Young student in Law are full of ideals of justice. however, It usually only takes 5 years of practice to turn them into little monsters with fake smiles, deceptive, cynical and unambitious beyond personal glory, and fortune.
Practice quickly gets the young idealists understand that there is a difference between the legal system and justice, and practicing law has nothing to do with justice but all to do with mastering the legal system for the benefit of anyone who has money to pay.
Lawyers defend those who could pay, regardless of the case. More often than not, if you can pay you can win in the legal system.
While, The purpose of the state is to protect the weak against the strong, the poor against the rich. The purpose and the psychology of the lawyer instead are to serve a client regardless of morality or righteousness.
A state fails when the ideal of justice, fairness, compassion and solidarity are forgotten for the rule of “he who pays wins’ and the multiplication of laws that protect the rich from the poor, and install a rent economy.
Why then Lawyers could not be good statemen?
Because a republic of lawyers is the republic of lobbyists. A republic of lawyers leads to oligarchy.
When lawyers rule, those who could pay get laws voted to protect their interests and exclude everyone else to humanitarian humiliation. Practicing laws distort lawyers psychology to pay attention only to the cases that pay more money or would earn them more reputation and glory.
Worst than business men, lawyers are mainly paper pushers and sophists, aspiring aristocrat often cut away from ordinary people and real life, therefore with little to offer to society at the large except beating the poor for the rich client.
Never elect lawyers as parliaments members or statemen.
Prostitutes at least ask clients to wear condom regardless of the money.
The best statemen are often philosophers, teachers, activists with military experience.
